Conflicts in the Middle East Collection

Background to the War

The United States involvement in Middle Eastern countries continues to this day. Some of these various conflicts that the United State has participated in are the Gulf War, the Second Gulf War, and the Invasion of Afghanistan. Through all of these wars, thousands of Ohioans have participated. To date after the U.S. removal of troops from Iraq, nearly 7,000 Americans have been killed with around 300 of these causalities being Ohioans due to the Second Gulf War. Insurgency still continues to plague the Middle East and has been responsible for the deaths, the wounds, and the displacement of hundreds of thousands of civilians.
